Jesus the Lord

April 14, 2014

Summary

Peter closes the first public proclamation concerning Jesus in the apostolic era (the period after the ascension of Jesus) with a revelation of the identity of Jesus that serves as the foundation of New Testament Christology and therefore Christianity in general. Like the house of Israel whom Peter was addressing in the immediate context of the sermon, we must know this revelation concerning Jesus with certainty. The formula established here in Acts 2:36 of the Lord Jesus Christ (or similar variant such as “Jesus Christ our Lord”) occurs nearly one-hundred times in the New Testament from this point forward. We must move beyond familiarity and ask, “what does this actually mean?” Why does the New Testament refer to Jesus over and over again in this manner?

This session focuses specifically on the truth of Jesus as Lord. This the climax of Peter’s declaration concerning Jesus and reaches to the very heights of the revelation of His glory in the New Testament.

This is the final of three messages spoken on Christ the Lord at the Apostolic Revelation of Jesus conference hosted by the Open Door House of Prayer in Ft. Pierce, FL (April 12-13th, 2014).
